Wagner SprayTech Partners with Sherwin-Williams in Renovation Project

MINNEAPOLIS — September 15, 2017 — This weekend, employees at Wagner SprayTech are volunteering their time and talents to help renovate Blue Water Theatre Company’s new space in Wayzata at 605 Rice St. East, Wayzata, across the street from the Wayzata City Hall.

Using Wagner paint sprayers and tools, they are applying 22 gallons of Sherwin-Williams paint to the ceilings and walls of the main theatre area and foyer, which is being transformed into a 125-seat theatre. As part of the project, Wagner donated the labor and painting equipment, and Sherwin-Williams provided the paint and prep materials.

Blue Water Theatre Company purchased the building from the Unitarian Universalist Church of Minnetonka, which recently moved to a new location in Wayzata. The renovation is expected to be complete in October, and the first performance in the new space will be the Wizard of Oz November 2 – 5.

“Thank you to everyone at Wagner and Sherwin-Williams for making this important part of our renovation a resounding success,” said Charlie Leonard, executive and artistic director at Blue Water Theatre Company. “Support from the business community is incredibly important to our operations and we are honored to be the beneficiary of their support.”

First formed in 2007, Blue Water Theatre Company is a nonprofit “kids first” organization focused on creating outstanding theatre productions that are developed in a safe, accepting, responsive and supportive community. For the students, it is a transformative experience that builds confidence, intellectual curiosity, empowerment and skills that last a lifetime. The theatre puts on 30 productions a year that involve 150-200 students, primarily grades six through 12.

“Giving back to the community is an important part of our culture at Wagner,” said Greg McGuirk, president, Wagner SprayTech Decorative Finishing, Americas. “This project was particularly special and fitting for us, as it gave us an opportunity to help a local Twin Cities nonprofit by doing what we do best – paint.”

Wagner SprayTech employs approximately 250 people at the Plymouth location, and another 50 at the company’s distribution facility in Otsego, Minn. In addition to its Minnesota operations, Wagner SprayTech has one additional North American office in Villa Rica, Georgia.
